Takeaway Aga with Sarah Whitaker

Sarah was back at Treetops last week for

Take-Away Aga

She showed everyone some fantastic ideas and dishes for creating delicious quick and easy meals.

Dishes included meals such as;

Hot and Sour Noodle Soup
Sticky Chinese Chicken
Chicken Tikka Masala
Pork and Ginger Stir Fry (photo above)

and a very popular Toffee and Date tart.

The kitchen smelt amazing with herbs and spices galore.

Whilst cooking all of the above (and more!) Sarah was also showing us how to use our Aga, whether it be frying, roasting, grilling, baking, simmering etc

We were shown the best ways to keep it clean and the most economical way to use it.

After the demonstration, we enjoyed a delicious tasting lunch of all the food cooked.

Sarah will be back later in the year.

Aga - A Taste of Spain

We had Sarah Whitaker, the Aga Lady, here today, for a class entitled "A Taste of Spain".

Full of lovely flavours and ingredients, in particular saffron, chorizo, thyme, spanish olive oil .....

In the photo above Sarah is whizzing a delicious Gazpacho Andaluz.

Below is a sizzling Tortilla straight out of the Aga.

All the recipes showed how to make the most of your Aga, whether it was frying, simmering or grilling.

The most popular dish was Lentejas, a spicy Lentil Stew, this had fiery chorizo in it, some serrano ham, red wine and many other ingredients that happily simmered away infusing in the simmering oven whilst lunch was being prepared.

My favourite was Saffron Chicken, we also had Paella, a Galician style fish stew and a yummy Sofrito (tomato sauce), which went very nicely with the Tortilla.

The pudding was a big oozy Caramel Custard .......

We advertise the Aga classes as including a "tasting lunch" but as you can see, there is alot to taste!  Nobody leaves hungry!

Thanks Sarah for a great day.

Aga Fabulous Fish Class

Here is the table set for us to enjoy the food's cooked at today's Aga Class.

Sarah was here to cook us a feast of Fabulous Fish, whilst showing us our way around an Aga at the same time.

There were plenty of Aga tips and cookery ideas shared during the demonstration.

It was a delicious spread.

Here are some photos of the Fab Fish.

Firstly a Seafood Cassoulet, fantastic with some crusty chunks of bread.

Followed by a Smoky Fish Pie, a hint of stilton in the mash and a hint of horseradish in the sauce, really turned this into something special.

Sarah always demonstrates a tart, to show that in Aga-Land we don't blind bake, your tarts and quiches can just go straight into the Aga on the floor of the Roasting Oven, which is such a time saving revelation!

Today's tart was Smoked Mackerel and Spring Onion.

Next is a Steamed Sea Bass with an amazing tangy sauce.  Today, Sarah also had some Poulting fish which she used too.  We roasted the fish for this recipe.

There were other dishes such as scallops with cauliflower, sesame crusted tuna, slow roasted dill salmon and a chunky baked cod with a rocket crust

Sarah is back at Treetops on Friday 21 September for Effortless Entertaining, from 9.45am - 1.30pm.

£65

And also for Christmas Aga (Turkey this year) on Friday 9 November.

Sarah Whitaker was back on Friday for a very interesting and delicious Aga class.

The theme was Comfort and Casual, so we enjoyed a delicious roasted tomato and pepper soup, a creamy mushroom risotto, slow roasted salmon and a whole range of other delights that showed everyone how to use their Aga, how to retain the heat and how to juggle the ovens, along with showing us each cooking method alongside a delicious dish, ie the roasting, the simmering, the frying and so on.

There are so many tips to pick up along the way if you spend a morning with Sarah.

There is plenty of time to ask questions and time to enjoy a great tasting lunch of all the food Sarah has cooked, one of the puddings was "Caramel and Cholesterol Pie" it was soooooo good!

Bookings are underway for Sarah's return on Friday 18 May for Fabulous Fish
and Friday 21 September for Easy Entertaining.
