Another great painting day this week

Yesterday we held a Venice Watercolour class, it's always been a popular subject over the years.  Click on the links below for past years' work.

Claire demonstrates in a step by step style, explaining the layout, the paints required and helps everyone throughout the day.

She was delighted with everyone's drawings yesterday

Our days are always great fun, especially yesterday with the naming of our gondolier Giovanni!

At the end of the day, Claire mounts the artwork and we have an exhibition, it's always amazing to see everyone's different version of the painting.

We enjoyed a lunch of salmon, goats cheese & basil, served with sesame broccoli and this superfood salad of rice, red rice, black rice, wild rice (!) red and white quinoa, with mixed herbs and veg.

Followed by a delicious apple crumble

Inspired by Portmeirion Watercolour Class

We recently held a Watercolour class inspired by Portmeirion, it's colour, buildings, architecture and setting.

Portmeirion is an Italianate village in North Wales.

There was quite alot of drawing in this one to start with, we had some very talented freehand artists in the group

The next stage was to add masking fluid to keep the whites

I had received this fantastic box of Heritage tomatoes from the Isle of Wight Tomato company, great colour and flavours, which I used in the class lunch, we had baked salmon and tomato alongside a wild rice, chickpea and feta salad.

After lunch, the mixing palette, paints and washes came out, here are the finished paintings

Watercolour Wildlife

Friday was all about Wildlife at Treetops

Our artists had a choice between Deers, Hares and Foxes.

Surrounded by gorgeous autumnal and wintery colours.

Great opportunity to get out my abundance of Hare things!

We had a lovely lunch of a light thai green curry followed by a delicious Millionaire's Shortbread Parfait.

Autumn Watercolour

A vibrant watercolour class full of stunning autumnal colours.

A really bright and brave first wash, followed by some texture paste.

We worked on some negative painting before adding final details to the leaves.

Claire is back on Wednesday 24 October for Beginners & Refreshers Watercolour (places available) and we have one place left on our Poppies class on Thursday 25 October.

Last week with Claire we held a Watercolour class

Our subject was Sunsets 

It really was a lesson in colour and washes ... 

... lots of washes!

We had gorgeous moody skies

Beautiful fields, marshlands and windmills.

The paintings really show a peaceful finish to a lovely day.
