Aga Fish Class with Sarah

A Delicious Aga class today with Sarah Whitaker

Ocean's Catch

So many great fish recipes, we learnt how to slow roast, grill, bake and steam.

Sarah guides us round the Aga explaining how it works and how to get the best out of it, whilst finding different recipes to fit in with her demonstration.

Above is a warming cassoulet and below a very tasty smoked mackerel and spring onion tart.

After the demonstration, everyone enjoyed a tasting lunch of all the food cooked, along with a glass of wine.

Today's recipes included scallops, tuna, a cassoulet, salmon, the tart, baked cod with crust, steamed sea bass, a smoky fish pie and a risotto!  Full of flavours, marinades and dressings.

Aga Demos are great!

Sarah is back on Tuesday 18 April for

Autumn Aga with Sarah

Sarah was here yesterday taking us through some great new Autumnal recipes

Great tips on using the Aga, interesting ingredients and freezing ideas.

The pudding was a huge hit, Sarah made some pastry with cocoa powder in it and turned it into a gorgeous raspberry and chocolate tart.

Below are some delicious cheese biscuits, ideal as a canape.

We had a variety of main dishes, but this was the most popular, a warming smoky fish pie.

After Sarah's demonstration, everyone enjoyed a tasting lunch of all the food cooked.

I love this photo of my Aga post Sarah's washing up!  All her useful pots drying out before taking them home!

And finally, here is a roasted butternut squash!

They are lethal to peel and chop, so in Aga-Land, apparently we can just throw it into the roasting oven whole for 45 minutes, then afterwards blitz it, skin, seeds and all (think of all that fibre) and use it in making a delicious butternut squash soup.

Sarah will be back on Thursday 30 November for our Christmas class, this will be about entertaining and preparing for Christmas parties and get-togethers.  Delicious ideas that can be prepared ahead, or frozen.  With plenty of help and support on using your Aga over the Christmas season.

Christmas Aga with Sarah Whitaker

Sarah returned for our very popular Christmas Aga Class, which this year featured

TURKEY!

Sarah gave everyone plenty of tips and ideas for making a delicious Christmas Day Menu, this included lots of dishes that can be prepared and frozen ahead of time.

The Cranberry Sauce can be made as a gift.

Sarah made a delicious pear, walnut and stilton quiche for the vegetarians and showed us all how you don't need to 'bake blind' in an Aga.

There were plenty of vegetables accompaniments, crispy roast potatoes, perfect make ahead gravy, a root and sweet potato mash and a great recipe for the perfect sprouts!

As an alternative to the traditional Christmas pud, we also had a chocolate and fruit bombe, here it is covered in cream and golden stars glitter.

Sarah will be back with us in the New Year with new recipe ideas and plenty of tips and advice for using your Aga.

Summer Aga Class

Sarah cooked a huge feast of delights today at our Summer Aga class.

The recipes were put together with picnics, family celebrations and parties in mind.

Quick, easy and innovative.

We discussed how to make ahead of time, how to transport everything and then assemble them at the picnic.

As ever Sarah was full of her usual top tips and answered a wide variety of questions from Aga owners.

All the dishes used the Aga in a different way, so the morning was spent roasting, baking, grilling, wok-ing (!?), simmering, as well as Sarah showing us things the Aga could do that we'd never thought of such as the ironing and making yoghurt.

After the demonstration we enjoyed a delicious tasting lunch of all the food cooked,  I didn't quite manage to take photographs of it all, but here is a selection.

Above is a gorgeous Halloumi Salad

A perfect 6" Pork Pie, made with the hot pastry method.

This was the best rice salad I have ever tasted, a delicious dressing, apricots, almonds and more!

Monkfish kebabs on a lovely Portmeirion dish, made especially for Aga, that can be hung on the runners inside the oven.

Pudding was the stunning chocolate cake, covered in whipped cream and fruit that can be seen towards the top of this post.  Perfect with coffee.

A great day ..... Sarah will be back on Friday 29 November for Christmas Aga.

Aga Class - Effortless Entertaining

Sarah Whitaker was here this morning for a popular class titled "Effortless Entertaining".

Sarah's demonstration covers how to use the Aga whilst creating delicious food as she shows us around the Aga, showing us exactly how to roast, simmer, bake etc.

Above is a delicious mushroom risotto with parmesan, no more standing by the oven stirring, pouring in stock, stirring etc, in "Aga-Land", it all gets measured and then popped inside the Aga.

These are roasted carrots withs smoked paprika, a great combination.

We also had a leg of lamb with a delicious creamy sauce, a stilton cheesecake that can be used as a starter, pesto bread and a gorgeous velvety chestnut and sweet potato soup.

One of the puddings today was a pecan and ginger tart, it smelt amazing.

Sarah always brings her travelling shop, with lots of useful kitchen and Aga goodies, as well as her recipe books.

In two weeks time, her new book will be published:

Sarah returns to Treetops on Friday 9 November for Christmas Aga, to book please contact me.
