Spring Cookery Class

We had a great Spring Cookery Class last Friday

Lots of food, fun and oven juggling!

The aim of our Cookery Classes is to look at some inspiring, new, seasonal recipes that you can recreate easily at home for friends and family.

We tend to make a meat main, fish main and vegetarian main, a salad, a cordial and a cocktail, a pud and a bake.  There is a tasting menu of everything we cook and you take home a recipe booklet of everything we've cooked and a few extras.

We enjoy chat about kitchen accessories, gadgets and last week I'd just taken delivery of some lovely freeze dried petals from Polly's Petals, which are perfect for decorating your Spring and Summer bakes.

Above are pieces of cakes wrapped up to take home, it felt just like a party minus the balloons!

Below are just a few of the delicious things we cooked

A Strawberry and Lemon Roulade

A Roasted Radish Salad

A Fish Pie

A Spring Zinger Rhubarb Cocktail

Thank you everyone for coming and to Tara for being my kitchen assistant for the morning.

Winter Scene Pen & Wash

Another day, another Winter Scene, but this time was a Pen & Wash class

Our artists spent a large part of the day drawing their scene from Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds

Before adding washes later on in the day

Some glitter to give a frosty atmosphere

One of our artists, brought in her home made cushions that were en-route to the Cats Trust, we managed to take half of them off her hands and monies into the charity's pocket, they were gorgeous.

That's the end of term folks, thanks for joining us this term and year, we look forward to seeing you  in 2020.

Claire and I will be sending out the new dates shortly, watch the blog dates page and you email inbox

Supporting Recovery in Mind - Wellbeing Workshops

Last week we held a really successful Pilot Wellbeing Workshop for local social enterprise Recovery in Mind.

Recovery in Mind is based in Newbury and delivers FREE mental health courses.

They work in partnership with the West Berkshire Community Mental Health Team and offer an array of courses to anyone living with mental health challenges in West Berkshire.

The courses are designed to increase knowledge and understanding, and to improve confidence in self-managing personal mental health and wellbeing.  By gaining hope and taking back control, students become expert in their own recovery and can move on with their lives despite their challenges.

Treetops are going to be supporting and raising funds by for Recovery in Mind by running some Treetops style Wellbeing Workshops here that in turn will help Recovery in Mind run theirs.

ALL OUR PROFITS FROM THE DAY WILL GO STRAIGHT TO THEM.

We do hope you can join us in supporting this great local social enterprise, and if you have any questions regarding Recovery in Mind, either about their courses, sponsorship, donating or booking Angela the founder to come and do a speech at your workplace or event please click here

Our next Recovery In Mind Wellbeing Workshop will be held here on Friday 29 September, with a further one planned for Friday 13 October.

The day runs from 9:30am - approx 3pm and costs £80
(or book both for £150)

You will enjoy an array of sessions, including yoga, meditation, mindfulness, a creative activity and plenty of delicious food.

It's great fun, we keep our group at just 8 people, you can come with friends or just treat yourself to some 'me-time'.

It's so important to look after your Wellbeing, and a day in our beautiful, peaceful and relaxed setting with our amazing tutors is really special.

Time for you to slow down, connect and rebalance your mind, body and soul.

Please email to book your place

After the storm ......

I'm pleased to say that after last night's storm, the garden at Treetops is pretty much intact.

Our large beautiful tree lost a few branches several years ago in heavy winds, but this morning it stood very tall and strong!

The only large branch down landed on the shed, I heard a large crack in the night, so knew something had come down.

I had a walk around the woods, which looked very autumnal with all the various shades of colour, it was a carpet of bracken.

The skies are now blue and all is still ......

(We were rather worried about the trees on the right, as they are HUGE and they do like to sway rather worryingly in high winds)!
