Come to our Cosy Candlelit Yoga Evening


We have some spaces available on our Candlelit and Fireside Yoga on Tuesday 27 February.

The evening runs from 7pm - 9:30pm and costs £30

This includes warming drinks and a delicious soup supper.

Laura will lead the group through a restorative yoga session with some great stretches to unwind after a busy day, there will be some focus on the breath and after supper there will be a lovely sound meditation/yoga nidra whilst relaxing underneath duvets and warm eye masks!

Last week we had our annual 'Banish the Winter Blues' Watercolour class with Claire.

This year the theme was Snowdrops and Crocuses.

Most of the group managed two small paintings during the day.

We have a place available on Tuesday, for our Pen & Wash class with Claire.

The class runs from 9:30am - 3pm and costs £75

This includes all of your materials, a 2 course lunch with wine, and refreshments throughout the day.

All levels of artist are welcome.

Join Claire Warner's Painting Holiday in Valencia June 2018


Claire is running another painting holiday to Valencia this June, staying at Las Orquideas House, a colonial style white villa with wonderful views overlooking the Moorish town of Beniganim.
 

It will be a small group to ensure plenty of individual attention, with painting and sketching both on and off site.  


Beautiful gardens, sunbeds, swimming pool and tennis court and large studio are situated at the house.

Comfortable en-suite twin bedded or double bedrooms available for single or shared occupancy.

Most of your food and drink is included, with the food freshly cooked from the well stocked kitchen gardens.  Alicante airport transfers are included at allocated times, there is a supplement for flights outside of these times and those from Valencia airport.

Beginners Watercolour Snowdrops



Our Watercolour term started with a Beginners and Refreshers class

Claire starts these classes talking about the paints, brushes, papers and technique


after this everyone gets a chance to play with the paints and water


The next stage is starting the masterpiece!


The paintings today were fantastic and incorporated so many different techniques, water, trees, reflections and masking.


The snowdrops look lovely in the foreground and also along the banks in the background.

Welford Park, near Newbury, has now opened it's doors for visitors to see their stunning snowdrops.

It's really worth a visit with your camera, sketchbook and wellies.

About Meditation ........

We have a Meditation class here with Laura on a Monday morning, from 10:45am - 11:45am

But I hear many of you ask "what is meditation, what will I have to do"?

My answer is "come and give it a go", it's great, very relaxing and soothing. 

The main purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful, meditation strengthens the connections between the regions of the brain that regulate our emotional responses.

Firstly, we are very lucky to have Laura Routh-Parsons, who is a BSoM (the British School of Meditation) accredited and highly trained teacher, this is really important in both your introduction to meditation and developing your practice.

You know you are in safe hands.


We sit quietly, eyes closed and focus on our breathing, our body starts to relax, shoulders drop and we count silently on our in-breath and our out-breath.  This helps with the focus.

We sometimes change the counts as the breath and focus is developed.

At Treetops it's lovely as we can hear the birds and it's very peaceful, no traffic noise or sounds of others.

Laura also creates a beautiful sound meditation with bells and her sound bowl.

We can also lie down and continue our meditation.  We've also meditated with essential oils and focussed on the flicker of a candle.  Sometimes Laura reads some beautiful passages from books and poems, and whispers some soothing mantras.  It's never boring!  And the time flies by.


There are so many benefits to meditation, it's definitely worth incorporating it into your life:

It reduces stress
Releases tension
Improves concentration
Encourages a healthy focus and lifestyle
Increases self-awareness
It increases happiness
It even slows ageing!
Great for anxiety, depression, anger, fatigue and insomnia

Heavenly Candlelit Yoga Evening


Such a wonderful, warm, relaxing and friendly evening .....

8 lovely ladies joined Laura and I for a Candlelit and Fireside Yoga and supper evening. 


They enjoyed warmed mulled apple juice on arrival, before settling down for a session of breathwork and restorative yoga.


A soup supper followed with some delicious chai lattes.


To finish off the evening, everyone was covered in a duvet with a warming eye mask whilst listening to the crackling fire and experiencing an amazing yoga nidra and sound meditation.

Relax & Restore Retreat Day


On Saturday we held another lovely and successful Relax and Restore Retreat day with Laura.

Despite the foul weather, we had a really happy and relaxing day.


The theme of the day was Eat The Rainbow, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with fresh and colourful ingredients

We enjoyed a heritage carrot, chickpea and sweet potato falafel traybake from this February's Good Housekeeping magazine.

Served alongside slow roasted tomatoes and a rainbow salad.


I really enjoyed making the pudding, a Beetroot and Chocolate Cake


This was served with dairy free ice cream and rainbow drops! 




The day was interspersed with Yoga and Meditation, some hatha and some restorative.


To tie in with the Rainbow theme, Laura explained about the Chakra system


We also had a session on wellbeing and juicing, where we tried a variety of juices and spoke about the benefits of some of the ingredients.


Our next Retreat is on Saturday 10 March.

The day runs from 11:30am - 4:30pm and costs £75.
