Festive Papercutting with Lucy

Lucy returned to Treetops today with a Festive Papercutting class.

There were options to create lamps and cards.

Lucy had put together some great templates for everyone to work on, from baubles to polar bears and mistletoe to reindeer.

During the day you go through several blades as it's really important to keep the point sharp to create sharp neat lines.  Especially for these Christmas trees and reindeer.  We also used self-healing mats, which are really important to protect your surfaces.

Our new Papercutting Workshop

We had a fantastic day last week with new tutor Lucy on our Introduction to Papercutting Workshop.

Lucy spent some time explaining about the blades used and best techniques to try, before everyone got to work.

There were some lovely templates to choose from.

We had a break for lunch which today was a delicious and autumnal Chicken Tagine with Lemons, Pomegranate and Olives

Meet Lucy our new Papercutting Tutor

This is Lucy Nichols one of our new tutors for Autumn Term.

Lucy is a paper and textile artist.

Interestingly Lucy comes from a Mechanical Engineering background, which she studied at Imperial College, followed by a background in IT management!  She had always loved being creative and this took her back to University to study some more, where she really enjoyed working with paper along with her love of textiles.

Our first class is An Introduction to Papercutting

Using templates, Lucy will show us how to be creative with paper and make some lovely things.
