Acrylics - Boats on the Beach

Everyone enjoyed their Acrylics Class last week, Boats on the Beach

Great paintings, with textured sand, rolling waves and lovely skies.

We had the last of the Treetops apples in an autumnal crumble alongside pears and blackberries, delicious!

COMMUNITY:

During the summer, local social enterprise Recovery in Mind got in touch asking if they could use Treetops as a venue to run Wellbeing Workshops.  RinM run classes in West Berkshire for those with mental health challenges, they are all free and are providing a much needed service.  They rely on funding, grants and donations.

To support them, we thought a great day here for you, with all the proceeds going to RinM would be a great way to support them.

We will have various tutors throughout the day, running classes in pilates, yoga, mindfulness walking, a creative activity, healthy eating and it will be great fun, as our guinea pigs discovered on our recent pilot day!

We have two dates booked; Friday 29 September and Friday 13 October;
timings are 9:30am - approx 3pm and the cost is £80.

Please help us support Recovery in Mind.  For more information about them please click on the link:

That is all for now!  We hope to see you this term

Best wishes
Emily

Acrylic Blossoms Class

A vibrant colourful class with acrylic inks, acrylic paints, pva 'school' glue and crumpled tissue paper.

This is always a fun and enjoyable class

After wetting the board we dropped colourful inks onto the water, where it spread and did it's own thing.

When dry we put on a layer of PVA glue and spread out a piece of tissue paper, crinkles included, to create a lovely texture

Once it had dried, we wet it again and dropped in a second set of acrylic inks and this became our background for our masterpieces!

Working from some beautiful photos of Magnolia and Hampshire Apple Blossom, we created shapes, shadow .. and alot of pinks!

Acrylic Seascapes

Today was fun, busy, noisy and really creative.

We did this class a few years ago and I loved it.  It reminded me of playschool!  White PVA glue, the little plastic glue spreaders, crumpled tissue paper ..... brilliant!

Our artists dropped some vibrant acrylics inks onto the paper, dried it and then added glue and crumpled tissue, the next stage was rolling out the tissue, so that there were no air bubbles.

Here is Claire demonstrating another layer of colour, creating the idea of water and waves.

Today's key message was to remember to stand back and look at your painting now and again, as otherwise you sit on top of it and can lose perspective.

Here is the gallery of the fantastic paintings:

Below is the mixer full of lovely smelly herbs and tasty ingredients that I turned into a salsa verde to accompany our salmon at lunch, it smelt gorgeous.

Acrylics with Palette Knives

Acrylics returned to our timetable on Wednesday.

A day full of experimenting, colour and texture.

Claire started off demonstrating a Flower Market, showing some clever techniques and styles using various types of palette knives.

As usual there was a great array of inspiration from photographs and paintings.

After lunch (I must mention the delicious Rachel Allen's Toffee Apple Crumble & Vanilla Ice Cream!) the artists had time for another masterpiece, this time onto a canvas.

We will be putting together our Spring Art dates soon, we are currently taking bookings for:

Beginners Watercolour - Wednesday 21 January

Watercolour Flowers - Thursday 26 February
