Beginners Watercolour

Our last class of term was a Beginners Watercolour.

10 lovely new people were taken through the basics of watercolour technique and equipment, and following Claire's step by step demonstrating created these brilliant paintings.

At the end Claire puts the paintings into mounts and displays them for us all to see.

Next term's dates can be found on the dates page (click at the top of this page).

If you fancy some painting in the Summer Holidays, Claire will be at Marlborough Summer School running some Watercolour Classes during July and August:

Mixed Media with Watercolour

Yesterday was a fun Mixed Media class, working with texture and different mediums alongside Watercolour.

We spent the morning adding things such as salt, string, crushed egg shell, tiny beads, bleach, crayon, pastels, candle wax, cling film and bubble wrap onto both wet and dry watercolour.

It was time to play and experiment, seeing what we liked best, what gave the best results and gave us thoughts for our planned painting later in the day.

The above photo shows what was left behind after we removed the bubble wrap, cling film and string.

A lovely bubble wrap imprint below..

And here are the finished paintings, we all used the lovely texture paste, to help create either waves, walls or piers.  The salt was very popular, both fine salt and the larger grained sea salt.

It was a really fun day, thanks Claire.

Acrylic Blossoms Class

A vibrant colourful class with acrylic inks, acrylic paints, pva 'school' glue and crumpled tissue paper.

This is always a fun and enjoyable class

After wetting the board we dropped colourful inks onto the water, where it spread and did it's own thing.

When dry we put on a layer of PVA glue and spread out a piece of tissue paper, crinkles included, to create a lovely texture

Once it had dried, we wet it again and dropped in a second set of acrylic inks and this became our background for our masterpieces!

Working from some beautiful photos of Magnolia and Hampshire Apple Blossom, we created shapes, shadow .. and alot of pinks!
