Beginner's Photography
What a fantastic day, beautiful weather and a lovely group for Jo Andreae to teach. The subject was Beginner's Photography concentrating on composition. After some time talking about everyone's cameras, lighting and various F numbers it was time to go outside in the sunshine. A couple of hours were spent taking photographs concentrating on architecture, traditional shots, contemporary, studying depths of field.
Next week, the group will return with their photographs for some analysis!
Roses Watercolour Class
We had a great day with Claire Warner painting Roses. Having done Poppies for the last two years, we decided to choose a different flower. Roses are known as being a difficult subject.
We had Roses all the way down the centre of table, and a large assortment of photographs and magazine images, to inspire us.
Everyone created a great painting, they were all so different ..... I'm thinking Tulips next time?!

Another Art Exhibition
Aga - A Feast of Fish!
Sarah Whitaker was back on Friday the 13th for a Feast of Fish! Once we had covered a Feast of Rice Pudding, we got onto the Fish...... Sarah showed us 3 delicious ways to make Aga Rice Pudding. Heaven in a bowl!
Sarah spent some time talking about using the ovens, and how to ensure that you must keep the lids down as much as possible, as not only will that keep the heat in, it will keep your fuel bills down. Sarah cooked about 8 fish dishes, and managed to do most of it inside the ovens, the temperature didn't drop down at all.
The fish recipes covered tips on how to stir fry, bake, roast and also how to pop your squeezed orange and lemon shells into the simmering oven, and a few hours later, use them as kindling for your fire.
Lunch was delicious; it included king prawns, kedgeree, salmon, fish pie, plaice, prawns, trout........ and of course 3 types of Rice Pudding!
Sarah will be back again in November for Christmas Aga.

Acrylics with Texture
We had an interesting day with Claire Warner, creating 'Acrylics with Texture'. A buildings picture provided plenty of opportunity for texture.
Our roads were mixed with glass beads and sand, the plants and foliage were glue mixed with chopped up string, there were also broken egg shells and salt to use. Great fun.
We will be holding another Acrylics day on Tuesday 16 June, titled 'Fun with Acrylics'; where we will be using tissue paper, acrylic inks and producing some bright and beautiful flower paintings.
