Beginners & Refreshers Watercolour

Last week we had a very successful Beginners & Refreshers Watercolour class with Claire.

First thing is learning about the paints, brushes, papers and mixing

Claire demonstrates in a step by step style and offers plenty of support throughout the day

There were lots of techniques in this painting of a misty morning, washes, reflections, shadows, trees, foliage and creating the mist itself.

Coastal Blues Watercolour Class

Our first class back this term was Coastal Blues Watercolour

Claire had chosen a scene from Jersey

We even had sand and shells available in addition to the watercolour paints!

The water and reflections on the sand look fantastic on all the paintings

We were fuelled at lunchtime with some delicious salmon accompanied by this creamy courgette and orzo side dish.

Claire is off to teach in Tuscany, we will see her back here in October

Autumn Classes Announced ......

Autumn Classes are now out and we are taking bookings for some great classes, including Art, Luxury Christmas Wreaths, Autumn & Christmas Aga, Free From Cookery and Christmas Papercutting

Our final class of term was Tropical Sunset Watercolour with Claire

A great opportunity to create stunning washes

Great paintings!

Inspired by Portmeirion Watercolour Class

We recently held a Watercolour class inspired by Portmeirion, it's colour, buildings, architecture and setting.

Portmeirion is an Italianate village in North Wales.

There was quite alot of drawing in this one to start with, we had some very talented freehand artists in the group

The next stage was to add masking fluid to keep the whites

I had received this fantastic box of Heritage tomatoes from the Isle of Wight Tomato company, great colour and flavours, which I used in the class lunch, we had baked salmon and tomato alongside a wild rice, chickpea and feta salad.

After lunch, the mixing palette, paints and washes came out, here are the finished paintings
