Charity Online Daffodil Watercolour Workshop

We are very happy to launch our new Charity Online Daffodils Watercolour Workshop with Claire Warner in aid of Hospice UK.

£10 from each workshop bought goes directly to Hospice UK and support The National Garden Scheme and their Spring Flower Open Gardens.  Have a look at their website and see if there's a garden open near you.

The workshop is suitable for all levels of artist including Beginners, so if you'd like to have a go, this is perfect.  Claire teaches in an easy to follow step by step style.

(Professionally filmed and edited by the Storey brothers).

Learn how to mix and apply watercolour paint, master the wet in wet technique used, discover how to create the daffodils trumpet shape and find the contrast and shadows needed, but most of all just enjoy this happy and colourful subject whilst painting.

We also have a Daffodils Materials Box available in our Online Shop with everything in that you would need for this workshop.

Your Online Watercolour Workshop will be sent to your email as a PDF document.

The PDF will include:

A link to your online watercolour workshop video
A materials list of what you need
A paint chart of the colours used
Art tips from Claire
Images of all the stages of the drawing and painting

YOU MUST SAVE THE PDF TO YOUR DEVICE WITHIN 30 DAYS, IT IS THEN YOURS TO KEEP

Enjoy Spring and welcome the sunshine with these bright and beautiful flowers.

The Workshop and the Materials Box are both available to buy from the Treetops Website

Texture in Art with Claire

We recently held a Textures Art Class using watercolour pencils, pen and wash.

Claire had some great images and photos of old doors and ironmongery with peeling paintwork, crumbly stone surrounds, old steps and brickwork, each one told a great story.

Having drawn out the door, a gentle wash was applied, some texture paste was also put to show brick and stone work, then bit by bit the watercolour pencils were used to add colour and structure to the painting.

Here are some of the art materials we used at class.

After a break for some delicious lunch of pesto salmon served with giant couscous and roasted vegetables, the afternoon was spent finishing off everyone's various creations.

(vegetarian option: all dietary requirements are looked after at Treetops)

Here a selection of some of the finished artworks.

Colourful Collage Class

A great new class on Thursday - Collage with Laura

Laura brought so many different types of paper with her, it was amazing, plus our craft ladies had also brought some with them.

Laura explained the glue medium we would be using and the silicone 'brushes' and we had a practice piece of MDF to work on, some papers are definitely easier than others to use.

There is a technique to choosing and placing your pieces that Laura explained, and then after that you can incorporate text, handwritten words, use paints, inks, stencils, the world is your oyster!

These are just some of the boxes of paper Laura has!  Tissue, hand printed, newspaper, marbled paper, sewing patterns, maps, music paper, so many treasures in those boxes!

I first met Laura at an Art Exhibition when I fell in love and bought her big piece 'Gratitude', so we had a good look at it, and Laura explained her process.

She had also laid out some of her other pieces of work and sketchbook for everyone to look at.

Thanks everyone for coming and to Laura for such a brilliant, really fun and relaxing class.
