Summer Flowers 21 May

Susanna returns to Treetops on Tuesday 21 May for a Summer Flowers class.

Come and learn about cutting, conditioning and arranging flowers and foliage.

We use flowers from the garden as well as shop and supermarket bought ones.

Susanna demonstrates some striking, innovative, contemporary and traditional arrangements.

After morning coffee, you will all make an arrangement to take home with you, with lots of help and support from Susanna.

Following a light lunch, there is time for one more demonstrated idea from Susanna, in the past we have made corsages, decorated vintage tins and made small seed head gift tags.

Susanna provides all the flowers and floristry materials for the day, so you don't need to bring anything with you.

The class runs from 9.45am - 2pm and costs £80

(Bookings are being taken for our Christmas Flowers classes on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 December 2013).

Clouds - Watercolour

Wednesday's Watercolour Class with Claire was all about Clouds

Cumulus, Cirrus, stratus, all demonstrated at the start with cotton wool balls!

Claire had bought plenty of reference material with her, there were some stunning images for us to choose from for inspiration.

We were able to experiment with lots of water and a variety of brushes, we tried moving the paint with water, or painting onto dry paper, some of us used magic sponges to remove some of the paint to produce a dramatic effect.

The end gallery of paintings were so different ... we had dark angry skies, holiday skies, peaceful golden skies, all of them with different cloud formations.

Beginners Watercolour - March 2013

A lovely group of Beginners nervously settled around the table on Tuesday, wondering why on earth they'd decided to put themselves through the experience!

It was a fantastic day, fuelled by caffeine, wine and laughter!

Claire demonstrates to everyone each stage of the painting, so it's done at a nice and steady pace.  Before we start the picture, there is time to play with the paint, brushes and water, to get a feel for the medium.

Today, the group were painting a scene from Plockton, a village in the Highlands of Scotland.

And we thought they did brilliantly!

Curious Cows Watercolour Class!

Today, we had a fun class painting Cows!

We spent some time drawing the cows and getting the angles of the face and their features.

Using some masking fluid, we drew lines for their eyelashes, tufts of hair and hairy ears.

Even the lunch table had a cow-theme!
